    MCDD's Neurodiversity Celebration Day!

    April 15, 2023 April 16, 2023

    Good Morning!

Many local parents and guardians may need help looking for community resources. To improve this dire need, we need your help! I am Mackenzie David, an educator at the Macoupin Center for Developmentally Disabled (MCDD) and the Volunteer Coordinator.

This year MCDD wants to focus on advocating for Neurodiversity in our communities. We will host our first Neurodiversity Celebration Day on April 15th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Bates Building at the Macoupin County Fairgrounds.

Neurodiversity is the concept of celebrating and accepting that everyone has unique thinking and learning differences. By educating the public on what Neurodiversity is, we inspire acceptance and inclusion of the people we serve!
Examples can include but are not limited to:
    -Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    -ADHD
    -Down Syndrome
    -Bipolar
    -Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia
    -other Mental Health Conditions
    -Learning Differences!

Our goal for this event is to have a transitional fair dedicated to educating the community on our exceptional local programs! Collaboration among organizations will help us better be able to serve our population! We would LOVE you to attend and help us share what Central Illinois offers!

Along with the transitional fair, we will also have:
    -Educational booths and activities
    -Giveaways
    -Off The Wall Taco Truck
    -Bells and Whistles Coffee Truck
    -Bounce house, games, and fun!

I’ve attached flyers for the event and a pre-sale order form for T-shirts if you are interested!

If you have any questions or want to get involved, please email, or call the center at 217-854-3473!

    THANK YOU!
