Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for any effort or service needed to assist households in meeting the cost of home energy, and to supervise the intake and verification process for energy-related programs.
  • Will notify client and utility as to the eligibility of the client, assist clients with getting their energy restored, and file and log applications for payment to utility company or fuel provider.
  • Assist household and clients with budget counseling, energy education, arranging deferred or budget payment arrangements with energy providers and other services that assist the client in meeting the costs of home energy.
  • Assist Coordinator with the operation of the program, including preparation of correspondence, forms, reports, grants, procurement, and any other documentation.
  • Assist the Coordinator in supervision and training of energy staff members.
  • Must be knowledgeable on program rules, regulations, and related activities.
  • Will enter program/client documentation into computer system.
  • Prepare/distribute needed forms and supplies for the energy and related programs for all intake sites and branch offices within the four-county service area.
  • Assist the coordinator with public information and public relations of the energy programs.
  • Refer clients for additional assistance, whether energy related or not, to other service providers in their area.
  • Assist in outreach activities to locate any additional eligible households for energy programs.
  • Maintain an accurate records management system.
  • Will maintain the confidentiality of all client and family information.
  • Schedule appointments and take applications.
  • Perform routine reception duties as assigned, which may include surveys, mail, pre-applications, news articles, mail/phone/fax/copier logs, general program/administrative tasks, etc.
  • Attend training sessions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and/or energy program experience preferred.

  • Current Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) or Food Service Sanitation Manager (FSSM) Certification or be willing to secure one within a reasonable time.
  • Experience in similar cooking environment preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate other staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to relate well with senior participants in order to provide the best service possible.
  • Ability to drive. Maintain a valid Illinois driver’s license and sufficient insurance coverage.

Availability: Monday – Friday from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

This is a float position working 25-29 hours per week.
