Illinois Valley is looking to hire a full-time Educational Assistant for their Jerseyville Head Start School.
Responsibilities:
- Will provide assistance in the Head Start classroom to children ages 3-5 years old.
- Will work collaboratively with the classroom team to achieve positive outcomes for every child.
- Will support children’s development with patience and respect.
- Will assist the teacher with preparing materials and supplies.
- Will assist with maintaining a safe, clean, organized, child-friendly environment.
- Attend and assist with family events.
Requirements:
- Early Childhood work experience preferred.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
- Must hold a valid Illinois driver’s license and sufficient insurance coverage.
This is a full time position during the normal school year (August to May). Would be eligible for unemployment during the two summer months off with no disruption in benefits.

Illinois Valley is looking to hire a part-time Cook/Site Manager for their Senior Nutrition Center in Benld.
Essential Functions:
- Will accept food deliveries, prepare and serve food, and package food for home deliveries.
- Will clean up leftovers, dining area and kitchen on a daily basis.
- Maintain proper food temperatures and keep log of all food temperatures as required.
- Maintain safe food and kitchen standards.
- Responsible for attendance at site and collecting donations.
- Responsible for securing information on new program participants.
- Coordinate staff and volunteers.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in bulk food preparation and delivery is preferred.
- Certificate in Food Service and Sanitation is required within six months of Employment.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate other staff and volunteers.
- Working knowledge of budget/ordering process.
- Current Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) or Food Service Sanitation Manager (FSSM) Certification or be willing to secure one within a reasonable time.
- Ability to drive. Maintain a valid Illinois driver’s license and sufficient insurance coverage.

Illinois Valley is looking to hire a Home Visitor for their Head Start Program. This full-time position will be based out of our Jerseyville Head Start center.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct weekly home visits
- Plan/arrange group socialization activities
- Conduct/document developmental screenings and assessments
- Maintain proper documentation and prepare/submit reports
- Provide advocacy and coordination services for children/families
- Work with Head Start coordinators to facilitate completion and collection of necessary health requirements and plan/carry out parent committee meetings/trainings
- Assist with recruitment and enrollment
- Periodically transfer children and parents
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings
- Maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate competency to plan/implement home-based learning experiences
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must hold an age appropriate Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or be enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, OR be enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years of hire, and must have appropriate competencies.
- Possess “Parents as Teachers” credential or be willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Prior training and experience in comprehensive child development programs is desirable.
- Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and carry adequate vehicle insurance.
- Reliable means of transportation and an interest in a position requiring substantial local travel.
- May be required to obtain an Illinois School Bus Driver’s Permit.
- Maintain certifications as required.

Illinois Valley is hiring a full-time female shift supervisor for the Coalfield Rest Area off of I-55. This position does require transporting client workers from Gillespie, IL to the rest area. Transporting clients will take place in a company vehicle. The shift will be 1:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Will be a working supervisor performing duties necessary to maintain grounds and building including the supervision and coordination of workers activities.
- Assign tasks to workers and inspect completed work for conformance to standards.
- Train new workers, record hours worked, and perform personnel duties as required.
- Be familiar with all safety procedures and policies and instruct employees in safe work habits.
- Transport workers from Gillespie, or other specified pick up point to worksite.
- Keep all storage areas clean and orderly, posting designated areas for supplies.
- Perform minor and routine maintenance on buildings and equipment, and notify immediate supervisor concerning need for major repairs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School graduate or GED required.
- Experience in janitorial and building maintenance and use, and maintenance of commercial grounds equipment preferred.
- Requires knowledge of basic managerial skills such as organizing, planning and supervising staff/operations.
- Willing to work day or evening shift, holidays, and weekends.
- A neat and clean appearance is required.
- Ability to work with and supervise persons with disabilities.
- Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of insurance.
